A great tool to find out missing frames on any sequence and pointing out which ones are missing.

Specially great to fix the AE “missing n frames” warning during after effects compositing.

AE CC 2014 SLOW MERCURY TRANSMIT FIX – NVIDIA GTX 1070

SETUP FOR 5.1 PLAYBACK IN MPC WITH YOUR UR28M

  1. Install MultiChannelASIORendererSetup2.00 (http://blog.familie-buchberger.at/2015/12/15/multichannel-directshow-asio-renderer
    1. Or here: https://www.videohelp.com/download/MultiChannelASIORendererSetup2.00.exe
    2. Newer paid versions are here: https://www.videohelp.com/software/Multichannel-ASIO-DirectShow-Renderer/old-versions
  2. Open MPC and within OPTIONS go to PLAYBACK/OUTPUT/AUDIO RENDERER (“MultiChannel Asio Renderer filter)
  3. Play your 5.1 video and right click on it to select  FILTERS/MultiChannel Audio
  4. At the Channel Mapping, select the proper channel configuration on each output. (I’ve included a custom setup for the 6 channels of the UR28M here: https://cocoalopez.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/MPC_ASIO_MULTICHANNEL_UR28M.cmp
  5. Save your profile and enjoy your 5.1 content.

ALTERNATIVE WORKAROUND ON VLC without multichannel ASIO:

HOW TO PLAY 5.1 VIDEOS ON UR28M and VLC

  1. Install ASIO4ALL: ASIO4ALL driver
  2. Install ASIO LINKPRO: ASIO Link Pro Tool and patches. As I understand, ASIO Link Pro is abandonware and there has been no opposition to patching it. Without the patches, you’ll experience audio dropouts and issues with ASIO4ALL.
  3. Start Asio Link Pro and select START ASIO
  4. Once the window is open, open VLC and play a 5.1 video
  5. Select on Audio Device The first 01 ASIOVADPRO Speakers “Speakers 01 (ASIOVADPRO Driver)
  6. On the Asio Link Pro Panel Link the channels (1 to 6) from
ASIOVADPRO SPEAKERS IN to ASIODRIVER OUT MIX in the same order
  7. You’ll see the audio playing on each speaker.
  8. Make sure to click on PICK DRIVER and select “Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO”

6.

UPDATE 2024/11
You no longer need VLC, MPC BE will handle the output automatically once you install the ASIO4ALL

Bring back the old Selection Window 3DSMAX 2013+

I personally hate the selection window on MAX 2013+ versions, therefore did a bit of research on how to bring back my loved H shortcut selection window as in 3dsmax 2009

Here’s what you have to do:

  1. Get a tool like “Everything (http://www.voidtools.com/)” to search within your hard drive or use the windows search to find all the instances of this file: “CurrentDefaults.ini”
  2. Open them on a text editor like Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org)
  3. Use the Search and replace function and replace this line on all the files:
    [Scene Explorer]
    SelectByNameUsesSceneExplorer=1

    for this one

    [Scene Explorer]
    SelectByNameUsesSceneExplorer=0
  4. Make sure you replaced the ones in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2015 – 64bit\ENU\en-US\defaults\MAX folder
  5. Iniciar MAX

HOW TO CONVERT KEYFRAME BMK TO EDL

0

This is to import a bmk file from KeyframeMp to Premiere as EDL

Converted Frame bookmarks to start and end ranges
Converted Frame numbers to timecode
Adapted to EDL timecode format
Outline:
  1. Save BMK
  2. Edit it in Notepad, leave only frames and remove comma, adding paragraph between frames
  3. Import csv into google sheets
  4. Load sheets formula for extracting frame ranges and frame to timecode convert
  5. Convert timecode to EDL readable format (with blanks and spaces as the format requires)
  6. Download as csv
  7. Convert to .edl and remove “Commas”
  8. Load it into Premiere
  9. Relink Source.

Convertir FPS a TIMECODE y TIMECODE a FPS en Excel / Google Sheets

0

This Excel formula grabs a timecode value from cell A1 and converts it into frames. The timecode should be in the format “01:01:01;01”. The formula uses 30 frames per second and does not calculate drop frames.

=VALUE(LEFT(A1,2))*60*60*30+VALUE(MID(A1,4,2))*60*30+VALUE(MID(A1,7,2))*30+RIGHT(A1,2)

Example:
A1: 01:06:46;11
RESULT: 120191

This Excel formula grabs a number value from cell A2 and converts it into timecode.

=TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(INT(ABS(A2)/30)/60)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(ABS(A2)/30)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT(MOD(INT(ABS(A2)/30),60),"00")&";"&TEXT(MOD(ABS(A2),30),"00")

Example:
A2: 112019
RESULT: 01:02:13;29

You may want to replace “30” in that formula for a more accurate Frames Per Second value (e.g., 29.97 for NTSC, 25 for PAL).

This Excel formula calculates the difference between two timecode values and outputs “GOOD” if they are within 3 frames of each other. Otherwise, it outputs the actual difference as a timecode.

=IF((A4-A3)=MEDIAN((A4-A3),-3,3),"GOOD",TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(INT(ABS(A4-A3)/30)/60)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(ABS(A4-A3)/30)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT(MOD(INT(ABS(A4-A3)/30),60),"00")&";"&TEXT(MOD(ABS(A4-A3),30),"00"))

You may want to replace the value pair (-3,3) by a named cell containing a user determined error allowance. That way the formula will mark errors that fall withing the allowed interval as correct.

Example:
A3: 01:13:35;05
A4: 01:13:35;04
RESULT: GOOD

A3: 01:15:31;13
A4: 01:15:30;12
RESULT: 00:00:01;01

NOTE:
The formula “IF((A4-A3)=MEDIAN((A4-A3),-3,3)” calculates whether the value of A4-A3 falls within the values -3 and 3. If you were trying to determine whether these two values are 1 second apart, you would use -33 and 33 as your boundaries (30 frames equal 1 second).

This Excel formula will convert frames back into TimeCode. It will add 1 second to the final value, because Hulu requests that we give them the frame-accurate value of the middle of the commercial break.

=TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(INT(ABS(C3)/RFPS)/60)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(ABS(C3)/RFPS)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT((MOD(INT(ABS(C3)/RFPS),60)+1),"00")&";"&TEXT(MOD(ABS(C3),RFPS),"00")

This Excel formula will convert frames back into TimeCode. It will round up the seconds and zero out the frames, because YouTube only works with second-accurate commercial breaks. Since our commercial breaks last one second, we can guarantee we fall within the break by rounding up the seconds.

=TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(INT(ABS(C4)/RFPS)/60)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT(MOD(INT(INT(ABS(C4)/RFPS)/60),60),"00")&":"&TEXT((MOD(INT(ABS(C4)/RFPS),60)+1),"00")&";"&"00"

RFPS in the formulas is a named cell containing the real FPS value.
